Virginia Commonwealth University is committed to promoting and protecting the University’s brand standards. At VCU, Trademarks & Licensing ensures proper usage of VCU’s name and symbols by monitoring the quality and consistency of all merchandise bearing VCU marks. All merchandise bearing one or more VCU marks must be produced by a licensed vendor. Revenue generated from this program supports and enhances many student programs and scholarships.

CLC represents VCU and assists in the management of the University’s licensing and trademark enforcement program.

VCU is a member of the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC), an independent labor rights monitoring organization.

Look for the Label

All VCU licensed merchandise sold at retail should include CLC’s Officially Licensed Collegiate Products (OLCP) label or hang tag.

When you see this label you know that:

  • The manufacturer has agreed to follow VCU’s Code of Conduct.
  • The manufacturer is paying royalties to VCU that support the University.
  • The products have been reviewed and approved to make sure they are consistent with VCU brand standards.
